• ICT can be used to support the Literacy Hour in many ways. It has become a significant aspect of teaching.
   
• These quiz pages will help to capture children's attention and are a fun and exciting way to use ICT in Literacy lessons.
   
• The biographical quizzes will enhance your Shared Reading and Writing sessions and add a new dimension to your Text, Sentence and Word Level teaching.
   
• Use the quizzes either for whole-class or independent pupil work to bring an author to life in your classroom.
   
• Use the quizzes as the basis for a series of lessons or as extension activities.
   
• The quizzes are interactive and encourage development of ICT skills, including mouse-click, cut and paste and independent typing, and are self-marking. This is an excellent use of text manipulation which cannot be carried out with printed text. However, all the quizzes are downloadable and printable for completing in a more conventional way if you prefer.
   
• All the answers are available on the website to encourage navigation of the website and detailed research. Children do not need to leave the website to find the answers.
   
• Use the information on the website for Scaffolding Recounts, Explanations, Instructions and Procedures, and as a basis for Discussion.
